May 28, 1998, will always be a day to remember, as the deaths of celebrity couple Phil Hartman and his third wife, Brynn Hartman was recorded. Phil was shot to death, while his woman committed suicide hours later.
Phil was an American-Canadian comedic actor who won many with his funny impressions of rich and famous characters. Irrespective of his success in his career, the icon preferred to keep his personal life low-key.

He was married three times and experienced divorce twice. Phil's first marriage lasted only two years, while his second spanned three years. Shortly after his second divorce, the actor met his third wife, Brynn Omdahl.
Omdahl was a model and was trying to pursue a career in the movie industry. Her efforts to be successful proved abortive, and she eventually developed an addiction to drugs— cocaine.
In 1986, Omdahl decided to retrace her steps and became sober before going on a blind date with Phil. The pair fell in love, and in 1987, they walked down the aisle.

Phil and Omdahl lived happily and became parents to two children, Sean, and Birgen Hartman. Later on, the duo's marriage began to turn sour as Phil's solitary life took a negative turn on their relationship.
The difference in their success rate also contributed heavily to the issues in their marriage. Quick-tempered and full of jealousy, Omdahl began getting into fights with her husband. She once sent a life-threatening message to Phil's ex-wife, who called to congratulate them on the birth of their child.
While Phil slept, she got hold of his gun and shot him to death.

Omdahl suspected Phil of cheating, and their union continued to fall apart, and the latter began to withdraw emotionally. After a fight, Phil would retire to his bedroom to get his mind off the issues. On Mother's Day in 1997, Omdahl relapsed and began using drugs again.
Phil insisted that she went to rehab, which she did, but didn't continue due to the absence of her kids. Omdahl grew worse, and she was prescribed Zoloft, which made her more agitated.
On May 27, 1998, Omdahl went out for a few drinks with her friend and narrated her career disappointments. After drinking a little, she left to visit a friend, Ron Douglas, and this time, she talked about her marital issues.

She gulped more beer bottles, and by 12:45 am the following day; she left Douglas' house drunk. Omdahl returned home 15 minutes later, and while Phil slept, she got hold of his gun and shot him to death.
After shooting her husband, Omdahl returned to Douglas' house to inform him about what she had done. In doubt, Douglas followed her home and confirmed the situation, and immediately called the police.
Omdahl locked herself in a room, called her sister, and sent her love to her kids. After that, she laid on the bed beside Phil's body, placed the gun in her mouth, and shot herself to death.

Investigations revealed that traces of cocaine were found in her blood. Some levels of Zoloft, lithium and a drug similar to Prozac were also discovered in her blood.
Officials from the Los Angeles County Coroner's office made it known that they amplify each other's effects when the three drugs are taken together. Overall, Omdahl was described by friends as a wonderful mother who always had time for her children.
